A/P Education Program
The Alberta Printmakers’ Society runs approximately 14 courses per year in our printmaking studio, located at 2010F 11 St. SE in Calgary. Art classes are offered in a variety of printmaking techniques, primarily at the introductory level, and are open to artists as well as the public. Participants who wish to register for an upcoming course must fill in the appropriate registration form and return it along with the course fees prior to the first scheduled class.

Bird watching and Printmaking
Sunday, May 19 & 26

This is a 2 part printmaking workshop.
The first part will begin at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary where you will be introduced to different species of birds and their natural habitats and be inspired by their plumage and personality. You will have the opportunity to draw these birds and in the second part of this course you will transform your drawings into prints using beginner etching and lino cut techniques.
Father’s Day Card Printmaking workshop for Kids!

A smorgasbord of printmaking!
For anyone who is new to printmaking or just curious about the process. This is an opportunity to try a variety of printmaking methods at the A/P studio. Participants will be introduced to the foundations of printmaking with skilled instruction and guidance to inform this creative experience.
A one day event, created for beginners, promising fun for everyone!
All tools and materials will be provided. Students should bring, sketches, reference material, and ideas for their desired imagery
Intro to silkscreen

Participants in this course will be introduced to the technique of screenprinting and the method of combining different colours and layers in their design. This is a two-day intensive workshop for both beginners and those who have some experience with screen-printing. Transfer your ideas into multiple prints on paper or fabric, using a variety of silkscreen stencils including photographic techniques. Participants should come to class with sketches/reference materials, and prepared images that have high contrast between light and dark areas.
Students should bring: • Apron or smock/clothing suitable for art-making • A lunch and snacks • Sketches or reference material for ideas • High-contrast transparencies or photocopies of desired images (email for more info)
Halloween themed printmaking workshop for kids

Kids will have a blast making spooky print creations using Styrofoam plates, and paper stencils!
