Call for Submissions: IPCNY New Prints Program, deadline August 1, 2011

Call for Entries Deadline - August 1, 2011

In keeping with our mission to promote the greater appreciation and understanding of the fine art print, IPCNY presents a selection of new prints several times per year. New Prints 2011/Autumn will be the 40th New Prints Exhibition and the 5th in IPCNY’s new Gallery at 508 West 26th St, Rm. 5A.  The exhibition will run from November 3, 2011 – January 7, 2012; the opening will correspond with Print Week in New York.  Please note: The exhibition will tour to the Visual Arts Center at The University of Texas, Austin from January 27 to March 10, 2012.  Please submit to this special exhibition!

Criteria for selection are:

  • Only original fine art (limited edition and unique) prints are eligible; reproductions of other artwork such as drawings or paintings are not acceptable.
  • Selections will represent a broad diversity of sources, geographical and otherwise.
  • Prints must have been completed within a year of the submission deadline.

THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE. Independent artists, workshops, publishers and dealers are all welcome to submit recently completed print projects. Please refer to the Submission Guidelines below. The Selections Committee, composed of six members of the art community, will be announced in the coming weeks. All artists whose work has been selected will be notified by phone or email. If you have not received word by August 19, 2011, check the “what’s new” section of IPCNY’s website for the list of artists included. PLEASE DO NOT CALL IPCNY.

Artists and publishers whose work has been selected will be responsible for the framing and delivery of work to IPCNY by October 24, 2011. IPCNY will cover the return cost of delivery within reason. Due to the increased number of international submissions being selected, IPCNY can only contribute $50 dollars on return shipments overseas.  Packaging must be provided by the lender for work being shipped outside of New York City.  With this 40th presentation of New Prints, IPCNY continues its role as an important venue for the rotating display of exciting contemporary fine art prints.

Call for Submissions: Global Matrix III, International Fine Art Printmaking Exhibition, deadline September 9

DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 9 (RECEIVE BY EMAIL OR MAIL)

A contemporary review of fine art printmaking in all media from around the world presented as a traveling exhibition by the Purdue University Galleries (West Lafayette, Indiana USA)

From its humble origins as simple relief rubbings or patterns stamped onto paper and cloth, the art of the print has spread to all corners of the globe, growing and developing conceptually as a result of the contributions of an ever-growing circle of international artists. By drawing and manipulating an image matrix, they have utilized the essence of the multiple to explore the varied possibilities of image, color and repetition. The proliferation of multiple images around the world has led to a shared culture of appreciation. Styles and techniques identified with particular printmaking enclaves in various parts of the world can readily be seen now in the works of artists with different languages and different cultures, separated by thousands of miles.

Entry Procedure

There will be no entry fee. Entrants may submit up to five (5) original works completed in the past three years (2009 – 2011). Selections will be made from digital images in the form of jpeg files (maximum file dimension of eight inches in image size — maximum resolution of 300 dpi) – no slides and no PowerPoint shows.

Work will be selected for the exhibition by: Kathryn Reeves, Professor of Art & Design at Purdue University; Kimberly Vito, Associate Professor of Art & Art History at Wright State University; Sean Caulfield, Associate Professor of Art & Design at the University of Alberta; and Craig Martin, Director of the Purdue University Galleries. The team has previously collaborated on the first and second installments of “Global Matrix” in 2002 and 2007.
